Dear Family and Friends,
Greetings and welcome back for another outstanding school year. I hope you enjoyed your summer break and are eager to roll up your sleeves and forge ahead with the new Florida Standards.
The new Florida Standards promise to create new opportunities to challenge all of our students to reach their fullest potential and grow in their depth of knowledge. It is our goal that every student succeeds with a clear and focused vision to be college and career ready.
Our school district has adopted the “Visible Learning” approach to promote literacy across the curriculum. The students at Pines Middle are expected to experience a well rounded education that fosters creativity and innovation. This year we will continue to offer an outstanding Science, Technology, Engineering and Math-STEM curriculum.
We are very much committed to offering outstanding athletic, music, and clubs to promote a healthy social and personal middle school experience. Our Career Technical Education – CTE, practical arts programs allow our students to receive Industry Certification and high school credit.
Finally, our School Advisory Council – SAC and School Advisory Forum – SAF, meet every first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. We invite all stakeholders to actively participate to ensure a successful school year with our schoolwide theme being ”Anchored in Excellence”.
Reading Revolution Continues
Our School Wide Reading Revolution is a huge success! On Thursdays, starting in October, the "Reading Revolution Lunch Club" meets to discuss our latest novel. This year we will start with "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio! Students will be able to purchase this hardcover book for the bargain price of $5! With topics such as friendship and bullying, starting at a new school, this book will give us lots to talk about.
Please join us every Thursday.
Our "Celebrity" faculty/staff "Caught Reading" posters decorate our main hallway leading to the Media Center. Some of our posters are found here on our website in our picture slide show shown at the top of our website.
Parents, please encourage and or read with our child. Be a part of our exciting program!
